Clarence House Guesthouse was bought and founded by the late Mr Thomas Slevin in 1962 and is now 46 years in business. The house itself is 106 years old as it was built in 1899. It is an old Victorian town house, which was a private home, owned by the late Mr Hazlet, until it was taken over and converted into a guesthouse and run by Mrs Eleanor Slevin until she retired in 2002. It was originally the only guesthouse or bed & breakfast in the city, then in the late 60`s early 70`s Mr & Mrs Thomas Slevin established Ardowen Hotel, just two minutes away from the guesthouse. After six years, however, it was the last hotel in the city to be bombed as part of the troubles. Following this, we returned to Clarence House and have been here ever since. We are well known throughout the city and further afield.

Developed and funded entirely by Patrick Murphy who also owns Fabric world in the City U store Depot Brings the technology and security systems developed by similar businesses in the United States who invented the concept of self storage over two decades ago. We will be able to offer affordable storage solutions to all sectors of the community from domestic households looking for temporary storage because of moving home ,decorating, building extensions or simply cluttering, to local businesses looking to expand and develop but perhaps don’t currently have the space to achieve their objectives.

When Aer Arann operated its first commercial flight in 1970, it’s ambition was to provide a reliable, value for money air service to 1,000 islanders, located in Inishmore, off the west coast of Ireland. And to do it with classic island charm. Today Aer Arann operates over 600 flights per week, across 40 routes in Ireland to the UK and Europe. Passenger numbers have grown from 12,000 in its first year to 1.1m in 2006. Aer Arann have engineering bases in Cork , Galway and the most recently opened Waterford base creating up to 45 jobs.

The concept of a Hospice for the North West of Ireland was triggered off by local GP Dr Tom McGinley visiting an 18 year old man dying of terminal cancer. Dr Tom felt, not only his own inadequacy, but also that of the Health Service in general at being unable to provide the necessary care for this young man. This failure became a personal challenge which subsequently became the vision of a Hospice for the area. A small steering committee was set up in early 1984 and intense fund raising started in earnest.
